Graphic Match

Graphic Match is a method in which the editor can order each individual shot to create a transition where a smooth transfer from one frame to another is created. An example of a Graphic Match would be a double Graphic Match in the film War of the Worlds , here is an example of a water droplet being cleverly used to transition into a shot from space isolating the earth.  The second Graphic Match after the water droplet is the one where they use the shape of the earth to smoothly transition into the city using the traffic lights. Other films that have used Graphic matches are Spiderman who's director is Sam Raimi, Raiders of the Lost Ark and Shindler's List.
